ISO certifications

ISO 9001 is the internationally recognised standard for quality management.
ISO 14001 focuses on environmental management and shows that an organisation complies with environmental laws and takes responsibility for reducing its impact.

Quality Manager Martin Buitendijk: “Our customers value the assurance that these standards provide. Certifications like ISO 9001 and 14001 show that we take both quality and sustainability seriously.”

Exalto has been ISO 9001 certified since 2016 and obtained ISO 14001 certification in 2022. Both certificates are valid for three years, with annual control audits and a lead audit every three years. “While customers ask less about ISO 14001, we find it essential to stay up to date,” Martin explains. “This includes, for example, waste separation, LED lighting in our facilities, and climate-neutral production and packaging. The standard also extends to our suppliers, since packaging materials and product components are part of the assessment.”

TÜV NORD carried out the audits. Because both certifications involved recertification this year, the organisation was well prepared: many requirements have now become second nature in daily operations. “The cooperation with TÜV NORD is constructive. They don’t come in as inspectors looking for mistakes, but rather advise and identify opportunities for improvement,” Martin says.

Exalto is proud of the recertification. There is considerable overlap between the two standards, which helps the company prepare for the future. Martin concludes: “You invest a lot of time and resources in achieving these certifications. That’s why it’s important to keep the standard high and continuously look for improvements.”
